The Creede Underground Mining Museum, located in the left cliff face past the north end of town, was blasted out of solid rock by three Creede miners starting in 1990.
Before we entered the museum, we were met by their official chipmunk greeter (photo #02). If you look closely in photo #03, you will see him on Joe's right knee. We went into the gift shop to sign up for the 30-minute self guided audio tour. Photo #04 shows Cathy with the audio headset at the entrance to the exhibits. We walked on a wide and smooth concrete walkway to view various dioramas (photos #05-11) in niches cut out of the rock on both sides. Photo #12 shows a rail cart that was donated to the museum by Disney Studios and used in the 2013 movie, "The Lone Ranger", which was partially filmed in Creede.
